In a recent development in the Rostov region, near Taganrog, in Russia, remnants of a Ukrainian Neptune cruise missile were discovered in a partially intact state on the shores of the Sea of Azov.

A video showing the wreckage was released by Russian propaganda media.

The images reveal that the missile found was without its warhead. Based on its condition, it is speculated that it fell into the sea, making it difficult to determine the exact location of the fall. There is a possibility that this missile was one of those used in the attacks on Crimea. Notably, to reach the Sea of Azov, the missile would have had to penetrate Russia’s high-level air defense system.

According to Мілітарний, the identification of the missile as a Ukrainian Neptune model is based on the distinct characteristics of its fuselage, flaps, and the design of the jet engine nozzle. However, it is unclear whether the missile was manufactured before or during the large-scale invasion.

It is also unclear whether the recovered missile is the original anti-ship version of the R-360 Neptune missile or a modified variant designed for ground targets.
