General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS), in partnership with KNDS, introduced the new tracked artillery system NEMESIS at the FEINDEF fair in Madrid, Spain.

Based on the ASCOD platform and equipped with KNDS’s 155mm/L52 gun, the NEMESIS has been developed to provide highly efficient indirect fire support. It can be operated by just two people and even autonomously, thanks to an automated system that allows firing on the move with its 360° rotation.

The NEMESIS reaches distances of up to 70 km, depending on the ammunition, and features MRSI capability, which allows multiple rounds to hit the target simultaneously. With a 1,100 hp diesel engine and steel or rubber tracks, the vehicle is designed for mobility in various terrains, using the “shoot and scoot” tactic to facilitate rapid repositioning after firing.

This new system is an evolution of the DONAR, launched 15 years ago, and integrates ongoing efforts to modernize self-propelled artillery. In addition to the NEMESIS, GDELS and KNDS are also showcasing the PIRANHA AAC, a 10×10 wheeled artillery system. Together, these two models provide flexible solutions for different operational needs, and the NEMESIS emerges as a potential replacement for older systems, such as the M109 howitzer still used by armies like Spain’s.
