A woman is drawing attention from internet users after showing the setup she created to charge her car using the outlet in her bedroom.
Crystal Bright posted a video on her TikTok profile to explain that she recently moved and, unlike her previous home, her car is now parked in a spot that is a bit farther from her front door.
Because of that, she had to come up with a way to charge her 2013 Nissan Leaf using the outlet in her bedroom. “I had to get creative,” she explained at the beginning of the video, right before demonstrating how she was using a huge yellow extension cord to reach her car in the parking lot.
“With this […] 30-meter extension cord that cost 200 dollars, I managed to carry power from my nightstand to my bedroom window, going past the front of my house and across the sidewalk to the parking lot,” Crystal said in the clip.
Although some people may consider the long extension cord an inconvenience, Crystal said that it only gets in the way of one person in her condominium. “Fortunately, my neighbors are totally fine with this setup,” she pointed out next.
Addressing possible concerns from viewers, Crystal emphasized that her Nissan Leaf can be charged this way. “People have already asked me if my car is suitable for this, and the 2013 Nissan Leaf is made to be plugged into an outlet,” she explained.
However, there are some limitations regarding charging speed. “The maximum voltage is only 120 volts. It can be plugged into any outlet and is usually connected in the garage.”
Crystal stressed that she only leaves the extension cord outside while she is at home and her car is charging. “When I’m done, before going anywhere, I make sure to pull the extension cord back in and leave,” she concluded.
