A motorcyclist died after being hit by a Tesla Cybertruck in São Paulo, Brazil, early Wednesday morning (11).

According to reports from local media outlets, the accident occurred around 1 a.m. at the intersection of Avenida Nove de Julho and Avenida Cidade Jardim, at the exit of the Max Feffer tunnel.

Witnesses claim that the motorcyclist had entered the wrong lane and ran a red light. After the impact, the Cybertruck driver, a 36-year-old doctor, stopped to assist the victim.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital but did not survive. The Civil Police are investigating the accident and reviewing security camera footage and footage from the vehicle itself.

As seen in the video footage, the Cybertruck driver was crossing on a green light at the time of the accident. The motorcyclist, a 32-year-old man, leaves behind three children aged eight, six, and one.

The doctor underwent a breathalyzer test after the accident, and the result was negative for alcohol consumption. He handed over the footage from the Tesla camera to the police to assist with the investigation.

The road had to be closed for the rescue teams’ work and was only reopened around 6 a.m., according to the Traffic Engineering Company (CET).
