Moke International has announced that the Mini Moke will return in a limited edition for Californians, now in an electric version inspired by the original 1972 Moke Californian.
After receiving approval from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) earlier this month, Moke International finalized a retail partnership and announced that the “Golden State” will soon receive the fully electric version of the Mini Moke.
Power comes from a 44-hp electric motor paired with a relatively small 11 kWh battery, which provides a claimed range of around 85 km, while top speed is limited to 80 km/h.
It is clear that it was not designed to be a long-distance car, but rather an ideal vehicle for beach trips. However, considering its very limited use, the price is quite steep: US$ 49,500.
At launch, the Mini Moke will be available in three colors: Sonoma Red, Laguna Blue, and Venice White. Moke International will produce only 325 units, which will be sold by Shaver Automotive, a California-based dealership group.
