Mini is heavily investing in infotainment technology, with a new generation of vehicles featuring a 240mm OLED circular display.

This system, based on Android, introduces several innovations, such as new driving modes called “Experiences“, an AI-powered voice assistant named Spike, and features like augmented reality and an updated app store.

The interior design has been optimized, with the screen centralizing controls, except for a few physical buttons and switches on the steering wheel.

Although the screen is highly responsive and offers interesting animations, navigating through the menus can be confusing at first due to the large number of settings. The “Experiences,” like the Timeless mode (which references a retro speedometer) and the Go-Kart mode (with an animated sound effect), may feel a bit forced. Another challenge is the need for a Mini ID for full access to the system, which limits features like the voice assistant and shortcut settings.

A curious feature is AirConsole, an app available in the car’s app store that turns a smartphone into a game controller, ideal for use when the car is parked or charging. The system also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with the unique feature of being integrated into a square on the screen.

For a complete and optimized experience, Mini offers an option package, including a head-up display (HUD) and other features like heated seats and keyless entry.
