MG revealed the Cyber X concept, an SUV with a retro look that points to the brand’s future directions.
Originally known for its sports cars, the manufacturer has been focusing on family models since it was acquired by the Chinese SAIC in 2006. Now, with the Cyber X, MG returns to its bold spirit by allowing its designers to explore more creative ideas, as it did with the electric roadster Cyberster.
Although still only a concept, the Cyber X could influence upcoming brand releases, especially with the planned expansion of the “Cyber” line. The model features design cues inspired by classics like the Ford Bronco, Land Rover Defender, and even the Mercedes G-Wagen, as well as pop-up headlights, a nostalgic element rarely seen in modern SUVs. The platform has not yet been disclosed, but it is speculated to be a raised version of the Cyberster’s base, with up to 496 hp.
The vehicle was presented at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, alongside other brand highlights such as the electric IM5 and IM6, as well as the Cyberster Black and the sporty EX4. MG has not yet confirmed production of the Cyber X, but its look and concept already attract attention and indicate that the brand’s future may blend technological innovation with a strong retro aesthetic appeal.
