Mercedes-AMG has confirmed that it is developing what promises to be the most extreme Black Series of all time, while also advancing the next generation of the AMG GT3, a model aimed at the brand’s Customer Racing program.
The high-performance division from Affalterbach revealed that the CONCEPT AMG GT TRACK SPORT, unveiled last year, was not just a design exercise or a standalone prototype. According to the brand, the concept served as the technological foundation for two new high-performance models: the future Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series and the new Mercedes-AMG GT3.
AMG’s proposal is clear: to combine maximum performance on track and road in two cars born from the same project. The road-homologated version will play a strategic role, serving as the homologation model for the GT3’s successor.

The name TRACK SPORT, according to the manufacturer, was chosen precisely to symbolize this connection between the extreme performance of the race car and the street-legal brutality that defines the Black Series lineage.
Michael Schiebe, chairman of Mercedes-AMG, stated that the company is developing “the most extreme Black Series of all time” and also aims to create the next major motorsport record holder with the new GT3.

According to him, the concept was from the beginning a technological demonstration with a total commitment to maximum performance, both on track and on the road.
Prototype testing began in October 2025. Camouflaged with yellow-green and red details, the model has been undergoing an intense series of dynamic evaluations on tracks and circuits. Among the chosen locations are the in-house development track in Immendingen, as well as circuits such as Bilster Berg, Portimão, and Monteblanco. Now, with the start of testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the project enters a new phase of development.
AMG has also defined the visual identity of the two cars: red will be the primary color of the new Mercedes-AMG GT3 within the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport language, while yellow-green will be associated with the future AMG GT Black Series.
In the case of the new GT3, Mercedes-AMG sees it as the natural evolution of a customer racing program that began in 2010 and had its first full season in 2011 with the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3.
This trajectory continued with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 launched in 2016 and the Evo version introduced in 2020. Now, the brand aims to take the next step. To achieve this, it created Affalterbach Racing GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercedes-AMG that, alongside the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport division, will be responsible for developing and building the new competition car.
According to Christoph Sagemüller, head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport, the new GT3 is already in an intensive development phase and aims not only to maintain the brand’s successful legacy in customer racing, but also to set new standards in performance, safety, and competitiveness.

He also highlighted that initial tests have already delivered important insights and that the project will continue to progress on key GT racing circuits.
The new Black Series, meanwhile, arrives surrounded by a strong legacy. Mercedes-AMG notes that the Black Series designation has existed since 2006 and represents the top of the range in terms of performance, durability, and absolute focus on extreme driving. The brand also recalls its motorsport origins, tied to the vision of Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, who since the 1960s sought to transfer racing DNA into road-derived Mercedes models.
In this historical context, AMG cites the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG as an important piece in the origin of the Black Series lineage.
Equipped with a 5.5-liter V8 producing 360 hp, the model gained notoriety as the official Safety Car of Formula 1. Versions adapted for an Asian racing category provided a decisive boost for the creation of the Black Series family. Internally, that project already used the name TRACK SPORT, precisely to convey the idea of bringing a radical track concept to a road-homologated vehicle.
Now, Mercedes-AMG revisits this concept with a modern interpretation. For the manufacturer, the CONCEPT AMG GT TRACK SPORT represents another milestone in a journey marked by innovation, uncompromising performance, and a constant pursuit of limits. This story, according to the brand, now culminates in the separate introduction of the new AMG GT3 and the future AMG GT Black Series, two models that promise to expand the legend of the German performance division.
Mercedes-AMG has not yet disclosed technical specifications, power figures, or launch dates for the two vehicles. More details will be announced in the future.
