Mercedes-AMG has revealed the PureSpeed, a roofless and windshield-less version of the SL63, inspired by over 100 years of the brand’s motorsport history.

The model, with a design reminiscent of the concept presented a few months earlier, features a “halo” bar dividing the cockpit and humps behind the seats, inspired by the 300SLR.

Mercedes plans to produce 250 units of this exclusive model as part of the “Mythos” series, focused on ultra-limited and likely expensive cars.

The PureSpeed is aesthetically inspired by historical race cars, with red and black paint referencing the 192 Mercedes-Benz Targa Florio, although it is also available in matte silver.

The front of the car honors the AMG One hypercar, while the aerodynamic elements are adapted to the lack of roof and windshield. Its structure is similar to the SL63, with a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine, 577 horsepower, all-wheel drive, and systems like hydraulic roll control and rear-wheel steering.

The model comes with two helmets designed to ensure communication between the driver and passenger, including an intercom system connected to the car’s entertainment system. The interior features an exclusive watch from IWC Schaffhausen. Although the car has a fabric cover as a roof, it is only used when the vehicle is parked.

Mercedes has not yet revealed the price or whether the PureSpeed will be sold in the United States, but interested buyers can already reach out to their dealers.
