Brand highlights the award-winning Fairway 35 and Lucille during one of the most traditional events in the custom and street rod scene on the U.S. West Coast

Meguiar’s, one of the most recognized brands in the automotive care segment, is participating this weekend in the 25th edition of the Goodguys Meguiar’s Del Mar Nationals, one of the most prestigious gatherings on the calendar for custom and classic cars on the West Coast of the United States.

The event takes place in Del Mar, California, and brings together some of the most refined projects from the hot rod, street rod and custom world.

In addition to showcasing its product line and offering guidance to enthusiasts on the preservation and finishing of both classic and modern vehicles, Meguiar’s once again takes a prominent role as sponsor and presenter of the West Coast d’Elegance award, one of the most coveted honors in the street rodding community.

The award recognizes pre-1966 models that stand out for elegance, style and build quality.

For the 2026 edition, the brand is displaying at its booth two highly prestigious vehicles in the custom scene: the 1935 Chevrolet Coupe nicknamed Fairway 35, winner of last year’s West Coast d’Elegance, and the Mercury Custom Lucille, awarded the Sam Barris Memorial Award in 2024.

The Fairway 35 stands out for its extreme level of customization and the almost handcrafted attention to every detail. Built by Ironworks Speed & Kustom for owner Greg Heinrich, the coupe underwent an extensive transformation process that included a chopped roof, stretched body, reworked fenders, bespoke parts and sophisticated finishing solutions.

Although it retains the silhouette of a 1935 Chevrolet, virtually nothing remains original.

The mechanical setup also follows the concept of combining classic aesthetics with contemporary performance. The model uses a small-block Chevrolet with a Brodix base, Trick Flow cylinder heads and Hilborn-style electronic fuel injection, managed by Holley electronics.

The Tremec TKX five-speed manual transmission reinforces the idea of a car designed not only for display but also for driving.

The Mercury Lucille, based on a 1951 Mercury, represents the tradition of long, low and elegant customs that helped define an era. Owned by Gary Stell Jr. and built by Cambra Speed Shop, the car is inspired by the 1950 Mercury seen in the film Cobra, starring Sylvester Stallone in 1986.

The project received several visual and structural modifications, including a new roof chop, custom grille, integrated headlights, pivoting rear window and a special three-stage gold paint.

Under the hood, Lucille features a modern and powerful setup: a Ford Coyote Gen 3 producing 460 horsepower, paired with Holley management and an AOD transmission. The interior follows the same refined standard, with light-colored leather, a 1965 Thunderbird console, custom dashboard and high-end finishing. Since its debut at the 2024 Grand National Roadster Show, the model has established itself as one of the most admired customs on the circuit.

In addition to the two cars on display, the 2026 Goodguys Del Mar Nationals will also feature a wide competition for other major trophies, including Builder’s Choice Top 10 awards, Top 12 of the Year finalists and dozens of other prizes recognizing the best projects at the event.

Meguiar’s participation reinforces the brand’s historic connection with the world of classic and custom cars, in an environment where tradition, craftsmanship and creativity remain the main highlights. For fans of hot rods and customs, the presence of Fairway 35 and Lucille at the company’s booth is expected to be one of the major attractions of the weekend.
