This move is a demonstration of the country’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its defense capabilities.
The first phase of this ambitious acquisition plan will include the production of a pre-series vehicle and the integration of 20 Kongsberg remote weapon stations into the vehicles.
Furthermore, the agreement provides an option for the additional purchase of 18 vehicles and also includes provisions for assembly, maintenance, spare parts, and training programs.
Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of the Finland Division of Patria, highlighted the advanced capabilities of the vehicles, noting that they offer greater protection and firepower compared to basic models.
“The heavy armored Patria 6×6 vehicles with remote weapon systems represent the pinnacle of international collaborative development in research and development in the defense sector,” stated Järvinen.
The CAVS program, which began in 2020 and includes partners such as Latvia, Sweden, and Germany, has already resulted in the order of about 700 Patria 6×6 vehicles.
The success of the program has sparked interest in other countries, highlighting its effectiveness and the potential for future collaborative expansions in European defense.
