A mechanic reported being completely stunned after finding a “happy face” inside the engine of a 2020 Toyota Rav4.

Kris posted a video on TikTok to share the completely unexpected event. According to him, the Toyota was brought into his shop to diagnose what caused the check engine light to come on.

The codes indicated that the problem was with the mass air flow sensor, so Kris began to inspect the engine to see exactly what was going on.

He started by looking inside the air filter box, where he found a white replacement filter. Then, he checked the mass air flow sensor and found no issues with it either.

It was when he decided to look inside, where the mass air flow sensor is usually located, that he found the problem smiling back at him. Literally.

“You look inside and see a happy face. The customer installed an air purifier in the air box because they want the air inside the car to smell nice,” Kris explained in the video.

Kris continued filming after removing the air freshener that had been stuck inside the air filter box. “You don’t see this every day. It smells like fruit. I’m sure the engine liked it,” he joked.
