A man who started posting videos of himself cleaning dirty traffic signs on the streets of Brazil is gaining a legion of fans on social media.

Iago Custódio, a resident of Rio Grande do Sul, quickly went viral when he began posting before-and-after videos of the signs he cleaned on highways.

It all started when he partnered with a cleaning product brand to make an “out of the ordinary” video. Iago and his wife, Angélica Veloso, own an auto detailing business in Três Palmeiras.

The first video quickly went viral, so he decided to create a profile dedicated solely to cleaning signs. In just over a month of producing content, Iago has already amassed over 10 million views.

Today, the “Plate Washer” has more than 160,000 followers on Instagram. “I think people embraced the cause. And whether they want to admit it or not, it’s a satisfying video — people like that cleaning touch,” Iago told CNN.

The influencer uses several products to perform a true professional cleaning of the signs, including automotive detergent for heavy cleaning, a high-pressure washer, a sink squeegee, and microfiber cloths.

But beyond the views, Iago emphasized that one of his main goals is to increase safety on the highways, ensuring that dirt does not obscure important information for drivers.

He created the “Lavador Community,” a WhatsApp group that encourages followers to record their own cleaning efforts and share the videos.

And with the positive response, Iago quickly secured more partnerships to promote cleaning products and now said he plans to open his own store.
