A man who bought a used Volkswagen from Italy was shocked to discover that the former owner had hidden the engine warning light on the car’s dashboard with electrical tape.
The video was posted on TikTok by the European car seller Cars & Millions with the caption: “I was deceived when buying a car in Italy.”
The clip, which was recently taken down, had already accumulated over 1.9 million views, showing the moment he discovered the former owner had hidden the engine light on the dashboard with black tape.
“I can’t believe what I’m seeing, look at this. Look, man. They covered the engine light,” he explained just before peeling off the piece of tape that was covering the orange warning light on the car’s dashboard.
At the bottom of the dashboard, it was still possible to see a low tire pressure icon just below the GPS map. Also, the car’s odometer shows more than 195,000 km.
“What’s wrong with these people, man? Like, how can they let this happen, man? The engine light is on, look at it. Look at the tape. Like, you’re kidding me, man?” he lamented.
And the car’s problems didn’t stop there. Next, he pointed the camera at the driver’s seat center armrest, which showed signs of wear. “Look at this, man, look at this,” the disappointed buyer commented, pointing at the interior’s cosmetic damage.
Then, he recorded the car’s automatic window button, which was broken in half. He also explained that these damages had not been disclosed to him before the purchase. “Everything that was hidden in the photos when I bought the car.”
