Man arrested after stealing 800 liters of fuel at gas station in Brazil (G1 Ceará – Surveillance Camera // Civil Police – Disclosure)
A 37-year-old man was arrested by police on suspicion of stealing 800 liters of gasoline from a gas station in Barbalha, Ceará, in northeastern Brazil.
Surveillance cameras captured the moment he arrived at the station with empty jerry cans, filled them up, and fled without paying, causing a loss of about $600.
He was apprehended in Juazeiro do Norte, another municipality in the Brazilian state, with several full jerry cans in the vehicle and will be investigated for environmental crime of irregular fuel storage.
The suspect, who has a criminal history for fraud in Bahia, also in Brazil, also deceived employees by requesting a receipt for payment by debit card and took advantage of the moment when the attendant stepped away to escape. The station filed a police report, and the attendant, who was deceived by the criminal, regretted the situation and reported being left without reaction to the incident.
