The Military Junta of Mali has just acquired multiple SR-5 rocket launch systems from the Chinese company NORINCO.

This information was revealed by military observer Thomas Nachtrab on X (formerly Twitter), who posted a photo of the equipment on the roads of Mali.

According to him, the Malian military received at least one 122mm SR-5 system on September 3, during the latest batch of deliveries.

The acquisition of Chinese rocket systems could significantly enhance the combat capabilities of the Malian army.

The SR-5 is capable of hitting ground targets at a distance of up to 50 km with conventional rockets, performing suppression and fire support tasks.

However, the modular design of the SR-5 is a notable feature, as it allows for the installation of both standard 122mm rocket projectiles and larger caliber ammunition options.

In particular, this refers to 220mm launch modules equipped with precision-guided rockets with guidance systems. So, by using 220mm ammunition, the system is capable of precisely destroying enemy strategic targets.
