Lotus has launched a limited-edition series of Emira sports cars to celebrate its history in Formula 1, with models inspired by legendary drivers of the brand.
Each version is customized with exclusive liveries that pay tribute to iconic Lotus cars driven by major F1 figures, such as Ayrton Senna, Mario Andretti, and Jim Clark. These models will be launched in select European markets, with only 12 units of each, and feature bespoke finishes and handcrafted details.
Among the launched cars, the model inspired by the Type 99T stands out, with yellow paint and blue details, paying homage to Senna’s victories in Monaco and Detroit in 1987. Other models include the Type 97T, celebrating Senna’s first win in 1985, and the Type 78, which honors the 1977 car used by Andretti.
All the cars are equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo engine developed by Mercedes-AMG, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 280 km/h.
In addition to these limited editions, Lotus is also preparing a new electric model, the ‘Theory 1,’ with three seats, 986 horsepower, and a top speed of 320 km/h. The car is powered by a 70 kWh battery and promises impressive acceleration of 0-100 km/h in less than 2.5 seconds.
The manufacturer also plans to launch a customization program next year, allowing customers to modify their cars according to their specific preferences.
