A company in China has recently unveiled a system capable of quickly launching and recovering thousands of small quadcopter-type drones at the touch of a button.
DAMODA’s Automated Drone Swarm Container System was introduced in September. The company has been in the large-scale drone light show business for nearly a decade and currently holds the Guinness World Record for “the largest number of multirotor/drones remotely controlled in simultaneous flight.”
“With one click, the container unfolds and deploys thousands of drones into perfect formation — no manual setup required. The system performs synchronized takeoffs and precise landings, ensuring safe and uninterrupted operations,” the company said.
“After the show, each drone returns and is stored back inside the container, ready for the next performance. Mounted on a truck, the container can be transported anywhere — turning any location into a stage for a swarm of drones within minutes.”

While DAMODA’s technology was introduced to simplify drone light shows for entertainment purposes, the system has raised concerns over the threats posed by more capable and weaponized drone swarms.
Earlier this year, similar technology was seen in Ukraine, when Ukrainian forces carried out covert attacks on several Russian airbases using kamikaze quadcopters launched from container-like compartments.
These containers, designed to resemble small sheds or houses, were transported on truck beds. However, the pinpoint destructive potential that a single container can hold is truly alarming.
