The owner of a Lexus GX 550 2025 shared a complaint after turning on the car’s defroster to melt ice on the windshield, only to end up with a cracked glass.

“So this is my GX 550 2025. I have almost 20,000 km. I bought it in June. I came to turn on my defroster because I couldn’t find my scraper for the season. And my windshield cracked from one side to the other,” the user said in a video posted to their TikTok profile.

He then showed the state of his windshield, which had a crack running across the entire panel. “I’ve never experienced anything like this just from turning on the defroster.”

“This is a known issue. I don’t know if Lexus will cover it or not. I’m fed up and tired of this vehicle. I can’t wait to get rid of it,” he added.

If you live in a very cold place and skipped Physics class in school, it’s important to emphasize that heating frozen glass is never a good idea. To remove snow or ice from car windows, the best method is to use a scraper.

With that in mind, it’s also worth noting that many Lexus owners have reported windshield fragility, stating that their glass cracks easily even without visible impacts or temperature changes.

In addition to the headache of having a cracked windshield, many online owners also report difficulties getting it replaced, with Lexus unable to estimate when the replacement part will be available.
