Ukraine has received a FOG naval drone developed in Latvia, delivered by the Ziedot.lv foundation to reinforce maritime surveillance missions on the front lines.
The system was funded by donations from Latvian citizens and businesses and is part of Ukraine’s growing fleet of unmanned vessels used in the Black Sea and coastal areas.
Produced by the company NEWT21, the FOG weighs about 200 kg, has a carbon fiber hull, and can carry up to 200 kg of payload. The drone is equipped with a 90-horsepower water jet engine, a top speed of 78 km/h, and a range of up to 700 km, depending on the fuel configuration. The model has already undergone navigation tests on a 100-kilometer course.
Equipped with day and night electro-optical sensors and a Starlink antenna, the drone can operate autonomously or via remote control on long-range missions.
The delivery of the equipment highlights the strengthening of European support for Ukraine and the growing importance of naval drones in operations against Russian forces.
