A Korean Air aircraft went through tense moments during a landing attempt at Narita International Airport in Tokyo after encountering strong crosswinds during final approach.

Videos circulating on social media show the Airbus A321neo violently rocking from side to side while trying to align with the runway.

At one point, the aircraft even touched down, but the pilots decided to abort the landing and perform a go-around.

The maneuver occurred just seconds before a potentially hard landing, with the crew accelerating again to gain altitude and stabilize the aircraft in the air.

The incident happened on Tuesday (12) and drew attention because of the intensity of the aircraft’s oscillations during approach. Crosswinds, which blow perpendicular to the runway, are among the most challenging conditions for landings and require constant corrections from the flight crew.

Despite the scare, the aircraft later landed safely. No injuries or damage to the plane were reported.
