Kalmar, a Danish company specializing in restomods, has launched a new model that combines the classic body of the Porsche 911 with the electric powertrain of the Tesla Model S.
+ New hybrid motorhome from Thor Industries promises 800 kilometers of autonomy
This vehicle, named 7-97 E-Volt, is not just a simple engine swap! Kalmar enhanced performance by rebuilding it from a Porsche 911 of the 964 generation, using original parts whenever possible.
The new design uses a lightweight flax-based material for the body and interior, keeping the weight around 1,300 kilograms, similar to that of the original 911.
The project also focuses on aerodynamics, with a significant increase in downforce—30% at the front and 20% at the rear—and a rear spoiler that can increase this value by up to 60% depending on speed.
The 450 hp electric motor, installed at the rear, works with a 63 kWh battery, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under four seconds and achieve a range of 290 kilometers per charge. Drivers can choose between two driving modes: Eco and Sport.
In addition to its impressive performance, the 7-97 E-Volt includes modern features such as electric power steering, digital air conditioning, LED headlights, and an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay. Buyers can also opt for different types of brakes, from steel discs to a lighter and more efficient carbon-ceramic set.
The model’s price starts at approximately $499,800, and Kalmar offers the option to revert the car to gasoline-powered if the owner desires.
