Jeep is reportedly preparing to launch an electric version of the Renegade by 2027, keeping its size that established it as a highly successful compact SUV.

The latest information about the brand’s project came from Marco Montepeloso, Head of Product Planning at Jeep Europe, during an interview with the British magazine Auto Express.

In the conversation, he assured that the new Renegade will not undergo major dimensional changes, maintaining roughly the same size as the current model. Among the updates, the new Renegade will feature a new platform.

This change became possible thanks to the STLA Small architecture, produced by Stellantis, which will replace the current Small Wide 4×4 platform used by the American manufacturer since 2016. As a result, rear-seat passengers in the SUV will notice greater cabin comfort and more space for luggage.

Montepeloso also commented on how the Renegade will be positioned alongside the Avenger, ensuring that the two models will coexist peacefully within the brand’s portfolio. “This is not new. We have been selling the Avenger and the Renegade together for the past three years [in Europe], and the great performance of the Avenger occurred with the Renegade alongside it,” he said.

According to him, the models have different audiences. While the smaller SUV is more sought after by urban drivers looking for compact vehicles, the other has become a good option for larger families. “Therefore, I do not see a risk of cannibalization. To me, there are clear differences between the customers,” he added.

Regarding its appearance, projections recently published by independent designer Marco Maltese on social media give a general idea of what the new SUV will look like. They suggest a more retro style, characteristic of the Renegade, and that the car will retain the boxy design also seen in the new electric Recon.

Although initially planned as an exclusively electric model, Jeep’s European head strongly hinted that this will not be the only option. Light hybrid variants with front- and all-wheel drive are expected, helping the brand navigate an increasingly unpredictable market.

Jeep stated that the electric Renegade will arrive in North America by 2027 with a starting price below $25,000. However, considering the end of the $7,500 electric vehicle purchase incentive, the actual price is expected to be around $30,000.
