According to the publication, Defense Minister Guido Crosetto has officially presented the eleventh military assistance package to the country’s Public Security Committee.

In addition to the armored vehicles, the package also includes a satellite surveillance system designed to support planning and coordination of Ukrainian intelligence operations on the front lines.

M113 Armored Vehicles Take Center Stage

The central feature of the package will be the delivery of 400 M113 units — an armored personnel carrier widely used in combat scenarios and capable of being equipped with additional weaponry.

It is worth noting that in 2024, Italy had already delivered VCC-2 armored vehicles to Ukraine’s Armed Forces. The VCC-2 is a modernized version of the American M113A1 model, adapted to Italian standards.

The VCC-2 features significant protection upgrades: it includes additional 6 mm armor panels on the sides, enhancing crew safety during engagements. Each unit is also equipped with two side gunports, bulletproof glass windows, and an open-type machine gun turret that provides the operator with enhanced visibility during firing.

According to estimates, Italy has modernized between 1,160 and 1,200 M113A1 vehicles into the VCC-2 version, demonstrating the country’s ability to support Ukraine with substantial quantities of equipment.

Ukrainian Industry Advances in Maintenance

Another key development is that Ukrainian companies have recently gained the capability to manufacture spare parts for the M113, ensuring greater autonomy and faster maintenance for the fleet supplied by allied countries.
