The Israeli Air Force intercepted two drones that entered the country’s airspace from the east, according to a statement released on December 25.
The unmanned aircraft were identified by the Air Control Center just before crossing the border and were monitored during their approach.
After confirming the incursion, aerial assets were deployed to respond to the incident. A combat helicopter from Squadron 80 intercepted the two drones once they were already inside Israeli airspace. The operation was completed without any material damage or casualties.
Israeli authorities did not disclose details about the type of drones, the launch location, or possible targets.
The incident occurs amid a heightened state of alert for Israel’s air defenses, given the increasing use of drones for reconnaissance and attacks in recent regional conflicts.
