Hyundai launches exclusive electric SUV in China with 700 km range (Hyundai / X @mondialdelauto)
Hyundai has unveiled the Elexio, a new electric SUV developed exclusively for the Chinese market.
With a modern design inspired by the Ioniq line, the model is the first from the Korean brand fully focused on China and will be produced in partnership with the local automaker BAIC, within a joint venture.
Although technical details are still scarce, the highlight is the estimated range of 700 km, likely based on the Chinese CLTC cycle, as well as the possibility of fast charging from 30% to 80% in just 27 minutes.
The exterior design follows electric vehicle trends, featuring a rounded front without a grille. A light bar below the hood draws attention, while the headlights have four light points. At the rear, the SUV has a discreet spoiler on the D-pillar and a U-shaped tail light that extends across the entire trunk lid. The name “Elexio” is prominently displayed, and the robust bumper reinforces the model’s adventurous appeal.
Inside, there are no images or many details yet, but Hyundai has stated that the Elexio will have a minimalist look, with no physical buttons, concentrating functions on a central screen. The vehicle will feature advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) level 2+ and will use the Qualcomm SA8295 chip to manage its functions. Based on the E-GMP platform, the SUV may come in one- or two-motor versions.
With a $1.1 billion investment in the joint venture, the launch aims to strengthen Hyundai’s presence in the world’s largest automotive market.
