Hyundai Intium: new conceptual SUV that combines retro style and technological innovation (Instagram @hyundai)
The Hyundai Intium is a hydrogen fuel cell-powered SUV concept that anticipates a production model slated for 2025, succeeding the NEXO.
With a retro-futuristic design, the Intium introduces the brand’s new design language, known as “steel art.” Features such as striking daytime running lights and a grille with four points—which represent the letter “H” in Morse code—highlight its distinctive look.
The rear of the vehicle resembles the Pontiac Aztek, but this is seen as a compliment, as Hyundai has adopted a tall hatchback design with a sloped rear window while maintaining a square appearance. The aerodynamic 18-inch wheels aim to optimize range, while camera mirrors and a robust roof rack complete the SUV’s style.
Under the hood, the Intium features two hydrogen tanks, a battery, and an electric motor with 201 horsepower, aiming for a range of about 640 kilometers. Hyundai has also developed a navigation system that determines the most efficient route, considering the sparse infrastructure of hydrogen refueling stations.
Additionally, the SUV is designed for families, including practical technologies such as external charging and a second row of seats with a reclining angle for added comfort.
