The new “radical” electric car brings modernity, technology, safety, fun, and adventure
The Hyundai Inster Insteroid is the brand’s new entry-level electric car, described as a “bolder statement, harnessing unbridled creativity to deepen the emotional connection with the Hyundai brand.”
Hyundai states that the Insteroid was created with inspiration from the world of video games. The electric vehicle features a massive rear wing and new aerodynamic appendages.
“It’s pure fun,” says Simon Loasby, senior vice president and head of Hyundai’s design center, to CAR.

“The design presentation for this was probably the easiest of my career,” says Nicola Danza, Hyundai’s exterior design manager. “It was so cool from the first sketches that when they were shown to the CEO, he simply said ‘build it’ and walked out of the room,” she added.
The Insteroid also features an extremely wide track, ultra-thick tires with “track-optimized” wheels. These huge wheel arches incorporate vents that release pressure inside the wheel wells.
“We need to think about the next generation, and we can’t design SUVs all the time – young people still want small cars,” says Danza. “We wanted to make this almost like a poster car for kids,” she pointed out, referring to gamers.

Finally, the brand states that the Insteroid “produces a unique sound, leaving an unforgettable impression,” as it features animations and graphics that light up the cabin. Additionally, the Insteroid has outward-facing speakers so the car can be used as a massive mobile audio platform.
