The arrival of the L-39 Skyfox marks a significant step forward in the modernization of Hungary’s military aviation training system. According to the manufacturer, the aircraft represents an ideal platform for training the next generation of fighter pilots.
As part of this effort, Hungary has also established a modern simulation center for pilot training, which will be integrated into the NATO flight training program in Europe.

“We are very pleased that the L-39 Skyfox has been chosen as the training platform for the next generation of Hungarian fighter pilots,” said AERO Vodochody in an official statement.
The training system provided by the company includes not only the aircraft, but also simulators, ground support equipment, and continuous operational support. So far, three Hungarian flight instructors and sixteen technicians have successfully completed training at AERO Vodochody headquarters, carrying out around 100 flights – including night and formation missions.

A team of engineers and specialists from AERO Vodochody remains stationed at the Kecskemét base to provide technical support during the aircraft’s initial operational phase.

The delivery is part of a contract signed on April 17, 2022, which includes the supply of 12 L-39 Skyfox aircraft to Hungary. Of these, eight will be used for training and four for reconnaissance missions, along with simulators, equipment, and complete training programs.
In addition to Hungary, Vietnam also completed the formation of its L-39 Skyfox fleet this year, demonstrating the growing international reach of AERO Vodochody’s program.
