The Houthi rebels in Yemen released a video of their only F-5E Tiger II fighter jet taking off and flying to the tune of Danger Zone from the movie “Top Gun”.

The Houthi movement restored to flight a Northrop F-5 Tiger fighter aircraft, originally acquired in 1979, giving the regime combat capabilities for the first time since they overthrew the country’s government in 2014.
Supported by Iran, the Houthis are internationally regarded as a non-state actor and not the legitimate government of Yemen.
The Houthis have attacked foreign ships in the area since the start of the Israel-Hamas war. They declared support for Hamas and stated that they targeted ships traveling to Israel.
As a result of the Houthi missile and drone attacks, more and more merchant ships are avoiding the Red Sea and Suez Canal route to Europe.
The F-5 was developed by Northrop Corporation in the United States during the 1950s. The intention was to create a lightweight, inexpensive, and easy-to-maintain fighter jet that could be offered to US allies.
Although it is not a frontline aircraft compared to modern fighter jets, the F-5 has proven effective in various combat situations. It has been used in regional conflicts and air combat training.
