After being revealed earlier this year, Honda’s “Pokémon motorcycle” will make its debut at the Suzuka 8 Hours race in Japan, in early August.
The Honda Koraidon will be on display on August 1 and 2 at the Honda Racing Gallery (HRG), the brand’s official area inside the racetrack.
However, although the manufacturer stated that the model will make its first “on-track appearance,” it is not clear whether it will actually participate in the Sunday race (08/03).
The bike was named after Koraidon, a legendary Fighting/Dragon-type Pokémon featured in the 2022 game Pokémon Scarlet.
Known for its speed and strength, Koraidon was chosen by Honda to symbolize the fusion of the character’s traits with the motorcycle in collaboration with The Pokémon Company.
Among the model’s technological highlights is its self-balancing feature. Honda explained that the goal was to maintain stability at low speeds and during stops—moments when motorcycles are typically most unstable.
In a recent video, Honda demonstrated the technology through the latest version of the Honda Riding Assist (HRA), after modeling the self-balancing function based on its bipedal robot, Asimo. Thanks to this, the Koraidon bike can stand on its own.

Built to the Pokémon’s “actual size,” the bike stands 2.5 meters tall and weighs over 300 kilograms. However, little is known about its powertrain for now. More details will likely be revealed during the Suzuka event.
