The group Hezbollah carried out an attack on a Merkava tank using an FPV drone, in another episode of escalating tensions in the region. The group itself released footage of the moment of impact on social media.
The video shows the drone slowly approaching the armored vehicle before striking its rear section, considered the tank’s most vulnerable point.
This area has more limited protection and houses the main ammunition compartment, which increases the risks in the event of a direct hit.
According to Hezbollah, the action took place near the village of Merkaba, in southern Lebanon. In response, the Israeli government ordered immediate measures to curb the group’s movements in the border region.
Among the actions ordered is the destruction of bridges over the Litani River and the intensification of demolitions of structures in strategic areas. Israeli forces also carried out airstrikes on the Al-Qasmiya bridge, considered vital for connecting the south and the center of the country, leaving it severely damaged and out of operation.
