The American startup Intelligent Cranium Helmets (ICH) has launched the iC-R, a motorcycle helmet with artificial intelligence designed to transform rider safety.
Unveiled at CES 2025, the iC-R eliminates blind spots, integrates advanced connectivity, and offers a futuristic design. The company’s CEO, Ambrose Dodson, explained that the idea was conceived 10 years ago with the goal of creating safer helmets, particularly for lane changes.
The iC-R stands out for offering 360-degree vision thanks to rear cameras that capture 240-degree images, combined with an augmented reality screen. It also features a front camera for high-definition recording, proximity alerts, an accident detection system, and integration with Bluetooth and mobile networks. These functions allow communication between riders, display GPS and speed information, and enable voice command activation, all without distracting the rider’s attention.
Despite criticism about potential distractions from the amount of information on the screen, the iC-R balances technology and practicality. Weighing 1.71 kg and offering up to 7 hours of battery life, it is available in four models, with prices ranging from $650 to $1,850.
While more expensive than traditional helmets, the iC-R offers a solid set of innovations that justify the investment.
