The prototype marks the Korean manufacturer’s entry into the FIA WEC with a design inspired by the brand’s road cars, a twin-turbo V8 engine, and a visual identity that highlights its South Korean roots.

Genesis Magma Racing officially unveiled the GMR-001 Hypercar, a model that will represent the brand in its first season in the FIA World Endurance Championship of the FIA.

The new hypercar adopts visual elements that reinforce the link between the racing division and the manufacturer’s road cars. One of the highlights is the Two-Line lighting signature, a hallmark of Genesis models, along with body lines inspired by the “Athletic Elegance” design philosophy. The model also features the brand’s logo centrally positioned on the nose, reinforcing its visual identity on track.

On the technical side, Genesis partnered with ORECA for the chassis, following LMDh class regulations. The Genesis G8MR 3.2 twin-turbo V8 engine is based on a foundation derived from Hyundai Motorsport’s four-cylinder engine used in the WRC. According to the team, the first engine was fired up in February 2025, while the integration between chassis and powertrain took place in August of the same year, when testing also began.

The testing phase was one of the pillars of the GMR-001’s development. According to Genesis Magma Racing, the car completed nearly 25,000 kilometers on tracks representative of the WEC calendar, while one of the engines accumulated nearly 9,000 kilometers. The team stated that the initial goal for the 2026 season will be to finish races without issues or penalties before pursuing more consistent progress in the highly competitive Hypercar class.

Beyond the technical aspects, the GMR-001 livery was designed to highlight the brand’s Korean origin. The cars will carry the South Korean flag and the word “Magma” written in Hangul, “마그마”, an element that also inspired the geometric logo of Genesis Magma Racing and will be replicated in the garage, structures, and team uniforms. With this, Genesis positions itself as the first Korean manufacturer to enter the top category of global endurance racing.
