The German company Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft (FFG) unveiled the Condor, a new combat vehicle developed from the chassis of the Leopard 1.

The model, which will be officially presented at the international defense exhibition DSEi in London, combines the roles of ground fire support and anti-aircraft defense, and is described by the manufacturer as a response to current battlefield demands.

The Condor is equipped with the unmanned Turra 30-SA turret, from Slovakian company EVPÚ, armed with a 30mm automatic cannon capable of engaging aerial targets. The system allows the simultaneous use of two types of ammunition, and also integrates a machine gun, anti-tank missiles, and modern sighting, radar, and detection sensor equipment.

The vehicle has received armor reinforcements, a new internal layout for the crew, and digital systems that enhance combat efficiency and survivability.

Weighing less than 40 tons, the armored vehicle also features a new powerplant from Rolls-Royce Power Systems, lighter and more powerful than the original one from the Leopard 1. FFG highlighted that the project aims to combine war-tested solutions with current technologies to offer speed, reliability, and greater protection for the troops.

There is an expectation that the Condor will also be offered to the Ukrainian Army, where the company is building an armored vehicle maintenance center.
