Germany sends armored vehicles, missiles, and drones to Ukraine in a nearly $9 billion military package (X @deaidua)
Germany announced a few weeks ago a substantial military aid package for Ukraine, reinforcing European support in the ongoing conflict with Russia.
The shipment included 66 MRAP-type armored vehicles, missiles for IRIS-T air defense systems, Zuzana-2 wheeled howitzers, ammunition of various calibers for Leopard-2 tanks and Gepard cannons, as well as a range of drones—both reconnaissance and armed—and demining equipment.
The delivery also covered anti-tank weapons, assault rifles, surveillance radars, infrared binoculars, and even underwater scooters, totaling a military investment estimated at nearly $9 billion.
However, between May 6 and 7, several media outlets reported that this package was a new delivery from Germany to Ukraine. The confusion arose after the official website of the German government was updated, undergoing technical changes with the inauguration of the new administration. During this process, the publication date of the military aid list was automatically changed from April 17 to May 6, giving the impression of a new shipment.
According to an expert who monitors these updates, the listed equipment is exactly the same as previously disclosed, with no new additions or recently announced deliveries. While Germany continues to regularly supply Ukraine with military resources, no official updates about new shipments have been released since April.
Therefore, the reports based on the date change were the result of an unintentional technical misinterpretation.
