Germany has confirmed the purchase of 20 more Airbus H145M light combat helicopters, exercising an option included in a contract signed in 2023.
With the new order, the total number of helicopters ordered by the country rises to 82, reinforcing the modernization plan for the German Armed Forces’ rotary-wing forces.
Of the total contracted, 72 helicopters will be allocated to the German Army, while the special forces of the Luftwaffe will be responsible for the other ten aircraft. The H145M helicopters will be used for missions ranging from training and reconnaissance to special forces operations and light attack actions, expanding the operational flexibility of the units involved.
The H145M is the military version of the renowned H145 and stands out for its ability to rapidly reconfigure between different mission profiles. Equipped with Safran Arriel 2E engines, Helionix digital avionics, and self-protection systems, the model has already accumulated millions of flight hours in operations worldwide and continues to attract new international orders, according to Airbus.
