Germany is evaluating the possibility of transferring Sea Lynx naval helicopters to Ukraine, as these aircraft approach the end of their operational life in the naval aviation of the Bundeswehr.

The information was confirmed by the commander of the German Naval Aviation, Captain Broder Nielsen, ahead of the delivery of the first NH90 Sea Tiger helicopter, which will gradually replace the older model.

According to Nielsen, the Sea Lynx helicopters will not be decommissioned or sent to museums, but will continue to operate in another country. When asked directly, the officer confirmed that Ukraine could be the destination for the aircraft, following the same model previously adopted with the Sea King helicopters, which remain active after their transfer to Ukrainian forces.

The Sea Lynx Mk.88A is a multi-role naval helicopter operated from German frigates and equipped for maritime surveillance, anti-submarine warfare, and surface target attack missions. With high speed, advanced sensors, and modular armament, the aircraft represents a significant boost for naval and coastal operations, especially in conflict scenarios.
