XYTE Mobility, a German urban mobility startup, has just announced the XYTE One, an electric tricycle that eliminates the need for a helmet.

The company was founded by Dr. Wolfgang Ziebart, a well-known name in the global automotive industry, with the mission of making personal transportation cleaner, quieter, and safer.

With the One, XYTE Mobility promises to combine the “practicality of a motorcycle with the safety of a small car.” Thanks to a cabin that protects the driver, it can be ridden without a helmet.

It runs on an electric motor capable of producing 25 horsepower and 55 Nm of maximum torque, but its top speed is limited to about 99 km/h.

There is a 7.6 kWh battery that offers up to 112 km of range in the WMTC cycle and can be charged from 20% to 80% in just over two hours, if a compatible charger is available.

The One has a 72-liter trunk, which can be useful for carrying groceries. It also comes with a reverse gear, making it easier to maneuver in tight spaces.

Inside the cabin, it features a 10-inch touchscreen, LTE connectivity, and a mobile app with navigation and remote monitoring functions, while all lighting is LED.

The One debuted at the IAA Mobility event in Munich, Germany, last Monday (8). For the first 500 units, the brand offered a promotional price of €13,008 (equivalent to about US$15.2 thousand).
