A mysterious German businessman who embarked on a 30,000 km journey across 14 countries in the Americas has returned to the road after suffering an accident in Peru.

Em Jay, as he is known, started his trip along the famous Pan-American Highway last year with the goal of traveling from the southernmost point of South America to the northernmost point of North America.

Unfortunately, just a few months into his ambitious journey, he had an accident in Peru that left Sammy, the nickname of his nearly $1.3 million Ferrari Purosangue, stuck in a ditch.

According to Motor1 Argentina, the incident occurred on the road connecting the cities of Nazca and Cusco in Peru. Em Jay and his co-driver, Nicolai Böhm, went off the road while maneuvering to avoid a collision.

As a result, Sammy was nearly totaled. The Purosangue suffered broken suspension arms, a cracked windshield, and deployed airbags due to the impact.

After the accident, the Ferrari had to be transported to Santiago, Chile, where it stayed for nearly six months waiting for replacement parts to repair it.

Fortunately, it seems Sammy is back in action. Two weeks ago, Em Jay passed through Brazil with Sammy, visiting Florianópolis, Foz do Iguaçu, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro.

In more recent posts, he was seen crossing the Ruta de la Muerte, a road in Bolivia connecting parts of La Paz to Coroico.

Em Jay’s Ferrari Purosangue is already a powerful car on its own, equipped with a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V-12 engine producing 725 hp, capable of going from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. However, for this journey, Sammy received several modifications.

The German company Delta4x4 handled the changes, which included updates to make the car more suitable for all kinds of terrain, such as 20-inch Beadlock Force Light wheels, which are not only lightweight but also feature a reinforced beadlock system for the tires.

Additionally, the vehicle received new 245/50 BF Goodrich Trail-Terrain T/A tires, since the original Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires likely could not handle the rough conditions. In total, Em Jay spent over €12,000 on Sammy’s modifications.

The Ferrari SUV was transported from Europe to Montevideo, Uruguay. From there, Em Jay and his co-driver set off toward Ushuaia, Argentina, considered the southernmost point of South America. Now, the businessman seems determined to overcome the challenges and complete his 30,000 km journey to Alaska.
