A fully functional Batmobile is up for sale on Bring a Trailer. Faithfully inspired by the car from the classic 1960s TV series, the vehicle was built on a 1979 Lincoln Continental chassis, with a 400 cubic inch V8 engine and a three-speed automatic transmission.

Recently repainted and with an eye-catching look, it’s more than just an exhibition piece; it’s a car that runs, drives, and promises to turn heads wherever it goes.

The replica pays homage to the iconic Batmobile created by George Barris for the 1966 “Batman” series. At the time, Barris used a 1955 Ford Futura, which he bought from Ford for just one dollar, to develop the design that would become legendary. The success was so great that the original car was later sold at auction for \$4.62 million. This current version keeps many of the characteristic visual elements, although the internal “gadgets” are purely decorative.

The fiberglass body was likely produced by Batrodz, a company specializing in Batmobile replicas. Even without functional turbines or radars, the car offers a fun and nostalgic experience for fans of the hero.

The auction ends on May 7, and the lucky buyer will be able to “fight crime” on the streets of the city or, at the very least, steal the spotlight wherever they go.
