This statement was made by President Emmanuel Macron in an interview with TF1Info, where he emphasized the crucial role of these weapons in the regional security balance.

To meet this demand, the French government plans to increase monthly production of CAESAR from just two units before 2022 to 12 units. This increase requires the manufacturer Arquus to deliver one chassis every four days. Meanwhile, the KNDS consortium has already doubled the production of 155mm shells at its La Chapelle-Saint-Ursin plant and aims to produce 100,000 rounds by the end of the year.

The CAESAR has become Europe’s main artillery system and is being acquired by several countries: France (109 NG units), Belgium (28, 6×6 version), Lithuania (18 NG), Estonia (12 Mk I), Portugal (36 NG), Czech Republic (62 8×8 on Tatra chassis), Armenia (36 Mk I), and in addition to the 37 systems already received by Ukraine from France and Denmark, 78 more are expected through an international program. Bulgaria, Luxembourg, and Slovenia are also joining the effort to modernize their artillery fleets.
