France is evaluating the purchase of CB90 combat boats manufactured by Sweden’s Saab, in another sign of closer ties between the defense industries of the two countries.
According to information released by the French press and reported by the Ukrainian portal Militarnyi, French interest emerged shortly after Sweden selected the French FDI frigates for its naval renewal program. Paris is now reportedly considering acquiring at least ten CB90 units.
The CB90, officially known as the Stridsbåt 90H, is a fast boat used for troop transport, patrol missions, and amphibious operations in coastal and riverine environments. The model is widely used by the Swedish armed forces and has already been exported to several countries.
According to the publication, the French Navy had already been testing the performance of the CB90 since last year, when three boats were temporarily sent for operational evaluations in France.
