France and the United States conducted joint maneuvers in space as part of the multinational initiative Operation Olympic Defender (OOD).

As reported by the French media outlet Zone Militaire (opex360), the operation included coordination between partners and practicing maneuvers close to other spacecraft.

According to observations by COMSPOC, the American spacecraft USA 324 approached the French Syracuse 3A spacecraft by about 25 km.

The operations took place in several stages throughout the month of November. Neither country disclosed technical details of the maneuvers carried out.

However, the military departments emphasized that the operations aimed to practice a joint ability to act “dynamically and responsibly” in order to protect common interests in space.
