A former Ford employee who had lost his wallet over a decade ago found it inside an SUV that ended up in a repair shop.
Chad Volk, a mechanic from Minnesota (USA), was replacing the fans of an 11-year-old Ford SUV. When he removed the air box, Volk discovered the Ford was hiding a wallet.
Inside the wallet, Volk found the work ID of Richard Guilford, a former employee of the Ford Motor Company who used to assemble vehicles at the Michigan factory.

Guilford was located after Volk posted the story on Facebook. “I never wore sweatpants to work, but I did that day, and had the wallet in my shirt pocket,” he said.
While leaning over to assemble an SUV 11 years ago, his wallet slipped from his pocket. “I checked and thought: ‘I lost my wallet.’ So, we all went out and tried to look. There were 2,000 cars outside, and we couldn’t find it.”
The wallet then made its way to a dealership in Arizona and later to Minnesota. And, 240,000 km later, it ended up in the shop of an honest mechanic, who soon took it to a post office.
The money inside Guilford’s wallet was untouched, along with some lottery tickets and the $250 in gift cards he had planned to use to buy Christmas presents for his children.
“I would’ve never, ever imagined it would still be there,” Guilford said. “I guess I’ll have to start checking under car hoods more often and see if I can find anything,” Volk joked.
