A former Ford employee and three other men were arrested for involvement in a scheme to steal automotive parts that caused millions of dollars in losses for the automaker.

According to the Dearborn police, the parts were stolen directly from the assembly lines at Ford’s factories in Michigan, USA, including the units responsible for producing models like F-150, Mustang, Ranger, and Bronco, over a period of more than two years.

After the theft, the parts were taken to two outsourced workshops in Detroit, where they were stored until sold on eBay. During the investigation, which had the support of Ford’s own security team, search warrants were executed at homes and businesses connected to the group. In one of the workshops, police found the space filled with new parts like hoods, bumpers, and headlights, stacked from floor to ceiling.

The suspects remain in detention, but their names have not been released yet, as formal charges have not yet been filed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The charges could include crimes such as qualified theft, forming a criminal group, and extortion. The workshops involved in the investigation have been temporarily shut down.
