Ford has revealed a new electric prototype for NASCAR based on the Mustang Mach-E, incorporating components from the NASCAR Cup car, such as suspension, brakes, and steering.

With a chassis similar to the Next Gen model, the vehicle features a 78.0 kWh battery and uses carbon fiber body panels to reduce weight. Although the automaker has not disclosed the exact power, it is expected that the three-motor setup will exceed 1,500 hp, following the trend of previous electric demonstrators from the brand.

In addition to the NASCAR prototype, Ford also announced a new Mach-E-based demonstrator vehicle to compete in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 2025. The car, still partially revealed, showcases aggressive aerodynamics with a large rear wing and wide fenders.

Ford has already competed in the event in previous editions with other electric models, and driver Romain Dumas, the current record-holder of the climb, will once again be responsible for trying to break historical records.

Dumas set the fastest time at Pikes Peak in 2018 with the Volkswagen I.D. R and, in 2023, broke the Open category record with the Supervan 4.2. The following year, he failed to break that record with the Supertruck, but Ford is back this year with the Mach-E for another attempt.

The brand’s presence in the competition reinforces its commitment to making electric vehicles more exciting and competitive, while maintaining the attention of motorsport fans even in the absence of the traditional roar of combustion engines.
