Ford has launched the Mustang GTD, the most powerful and fastest version of the model ever made, with the goal of completing a lap at the Nürburgring in under 7 minutes, a feat achieved by only a few production cars.
Equipped with a 5.2-liter V8 gasoline engine producing 815 hp and 91.8 kgfm of torque, the Ford Mustang GTD can reach a top speed of 325 km/h, surpassing all previous Mustangs.
The brand aims to compete with major names like Mercedes, Lamborghini, Porsche, and Ferrari, the only ones to complete the circuit in under seven minutes.
In addition to its powerful engine, the Mustang GTD features advanced technologies such as active aerodynamics, carbon-ceramic brakes, and rear suspension with semi-active dampers.
The dry sump system improves lubrication in sharp corners and allows a maximum rev of 7,650 rpm. Other innovations include revisions to the intake and exhaust systems, the use of a titanium exhaust, and a smaller supercharger pulley, which are expected to be tested later this year at the famous Nürburgring circuit.
