Ford has announced a recall of certain 2024 Mustangs due to a production issue affecting the rear suspension components.

The recall affects 4,595 Mustangs whose rear suspension joints may have casting defects, leading to weakening and potential fracture, increasing the likelihood of an accident, according to documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

According to the timeline report, Ford was aware of two potentially related reports of vehicles with fractured or cracked rear suspension joints. Fortunately, the automaker has not been informed of any injuries related to the failure.

Ford will notify owners later this month, while dealer notifications are already underway. The automaker will inspect the recalled models for impacted serial numbers on the suspension parts and will replace them free of charge if necessary.

Additionally, according to NHTSA documents, owners who paid to replace the parts before the recall may be eligible for reimbursement of the costs incurred.
