Ford has imposed a restriction on buyers of the Mustang GTD, prohibiting resale of the car for at least two years.

This measure, similar to what was previously implemented with the Ford GT, aims to prevent speculation and ensure that owners enjoy the vehicle rather than using it as an investment. According to the automaker, buyers sign a confidential agreement accepting this condition.

The demand for the Mustang GTD is enormous, with more than 7,500 people applying to purchase it in North America, while annual production is expected to be limited to somewhere between 300 and 700 units. This means that many enthusiasts will miss out on the car, which could further increase its market value.

With a starting price of $325,000, the GTD can still be configured with options such as the Performance Package, which is required for times under seven minutes at Nürburgring.

However, the restriction could pose a challenge for some buyers, as the car’s appreciation could make it highly profitable. In the past, John Cena sold his Ford GT before the deadline and reportedly made a huge profit, which led to a dispute with Ford.

Although the penalties for breaking the GTD agreement have not been revealed, it is possible that some may be willing to take the risk if they receive offers far above the original price of the car.
